Sefton grumbled automatically, hands clenching at the sand underneath while his consciousness grappled for purchase. Part of him, the part he was used to listening to, murmured that it was time to sleep, that he had already skipped valuable rest to study and it wouldn't do any harm to stay in bed for another hour or so. The rest of him tensed almost immediately when it registered that he wasn't in bed, and it most definitely wasn't his apartment or bunk in the lab.
Fighting against the tendrils of sleep and blossoming headache, Sefton pushed himself to his hands and knees, squinting confusedly downward. Lifting his head, he most certainly did not expect to see what he, in fact, saw. With a yelp, he scrambled back, headache flaring up painfully as something clamored for his attention. Sefton shoved it down in favor of putting his attention toward not being attacked or eaten by the stony creature before him.
